Sensitive Skin - How Sensitive is 'Sensitive'?

One of the most difficult skin types to care for is that of sensitive skin. There are a lot of things to watch out for and you can't use just any skin care product. Here are some information that you should know about delicate skin and a simple beauty recipe for making your own gentle milk cleanser.

If your skin is sensitive, it easily reacts to a lot of things like chemicals – even the ones you commonly use like soaps, creams and medications -- usually becoming red and blotchy. In some cases, skin may also itch, have a stinging sensation and develop a rash. A sensitive type of skin also reacts to atmospheric or environmental conditions such as the sun, wind, cold weather and of course, pollution. It even reacts to mechanical stimulation like rubbing against fabric.

Physically, skin that is sensitive may look rather translucent, oftentimes shows premature wrinkling, seem tighter after being washed, epidermis appear thinner, warm to the touch and may also have superficial skin flaking due to chronic surface dehydration.

Sensitive Skin - Caring for Delicate Skin

If your skin is sensitive, stay away from anything with harsh chemicals and opt for more natural products, which are more likely to be mild and gentle. When buying skin care products, be sure to read the label and see if it's suitable for skin that is sensitive. Even so, always do a patch test on the inside of your skin before using the product on your face. Also, always remember to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun and moisturize regularly. Just bear in mind to use a sun block and moisturizer for sensitive type of skin.
