Skin Care Articles - Fighting Off Acne

There are several skin care articles about the development and treatment of acne that can help you avoid this skin problem. Acne results from the action of hormones on the skin's oil glands, also called the sebaceous glands. This leads to never ending pimple breakouts that occur on face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. To avoid this skin disorder, think “skin care and tretinoin”. You should have a skincare routine and adding tretinoin to this routine will help speed up the healing process.

Tretinoin is a prescription topical medication used to keep the skin pores clear. When you use this medication, it will lighten your skin first, followed by the replacement of older skin by a newer one. Talk to your dermatologist if this option is good for you. Find out the right dosage for adults and children. Remember that side effects may occur when you use this medication such as upset stomach, dizziness, and changes in skin color. Keep in mind that this topical medicine is best when you have a skincare routine.

If you are not very much into topical medicines, here are some tips to fight off acne:

  • Do not pop or squeeze your pimples. This will lead to scarring and infection.

  • Pull your hair away from your skin when sleeping.

  • Shampoo regularly especially if you have oily hair.

  • Don't sleep with your makeup on to avoid clogging and breakouts.

  • Clean your face gently. Astringents are not recommended unless you have oily skin.

  • Avoid sunburn or suntan.

  • Choose your cosmetics carefully.

  • Wash pillowcases regularly.

Skin Care Articles - Myths about Acne

Chocolates, greasy food, stress, and dirt are often blamed for the causes of acne. The truth is, nobody really knows what causes this skin disorder, but there are factors that can make acne worse like pollution, high humidity, hormones, squeezing, and hard scrubbing of the skin.
